What we collect
Your answers in the calculator (city, home type, rent, house price, age, income, bonus, employment status, savings, own contribution, years you expect to stay, chosen assumptions) and the resulting outcome. If you unlock your full results: your email address and your consent choices. If you request contact: your name, phone number and preferred call time. If you choose a rental specialist: your choice of partner. If you save a Funda link: that link. We also store the date, time, language and technical data (such as browser type) of your submission.
Why, and on what legal basis
(1) to show and email you your results (consent); (2) with your explicit consent, to have an Expat Mortgages advisor contact you about your mortgage options; (3) with your explicit consent, to introduce you to the rental specialist you chose, which means we forward your contact details and relevant answers to that partner; (4) with your separate consent, to send you occasional tips by email, which you can unsubscribe from at any time; (5) to improve the tool, based on our legitimate interest, using aggregated usage data.
We never sell your data, and we only share it as described in this policy.
Where your data lives
Our database (Supabase) and email service (Resend) run in the European Union. The tool is hosted by Lovable. These providers process data only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
Lead and contact data up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client (then the client file rules of Expat Mortgages apply) or ask us to delete it sooner. Newsletter consent: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, object to processing, and withdraw your consent at any time via privacy@rentorbuy.nl. We respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Openness about what this tool is
RentOrBuy is built and operated by Expat Mortgages. The calculation itself is neutral and also tells you when renting is the better choice, but this is not an independent third-party platform. Whether you contact an advisor or a rental partner is always your choice, via your explicit consent.
